A Success Story in Social Media

Gather Your Crowd had the opportunity to attend the January Self Marketing Event “How to Live Your Passion and Be Prosperous” co-facilitated by Faith Rivera, Emmy-winning singer/songwriter and successful self-marketer and Nolan Hee, world champion poker player, IT manager at NBC Universal Burbank and Indy record label producer.

Nolan and Faith shared their best practices to achieve success which include a philosophy of service, commitment to prosperity but also planning and tracking what works and what does not work. “Be ready to move to the next best thing if something does not work” said Faith during their presentation.

More on their best practices include:

  • Get clarity on who you are, what you love, & how you can serve from that place of aliveness.
  • Be relentless, keep showing up at events or create your own events.
  • Send Press Kits.
  • Volunteer work to Non Profit organizations you truly believe in.
  • Create an online Press Release and distribute through  places like:  PRLog,   Mi2N,   Happy News,   Associated Press, etc.
  • Focus on your passion. Don’t be afraid to hire when necessary to free your time.
  • Create a Newsletter and build an email database of followers. Explore the option of buying a mailing list. Use Constant Contact  or Rate Point
  • For musicians, use ReverbNation
  • Distribute flyers, postcards and give away gifts at events.
  • Sign-up as an expert on SelfGrowth.com 
  • Write & send one focused article to appropriate magazines, online magazines & websites in your industry.  Tell them you can write an article for each month.  Usually included in these articles is a short blurb about you, what you do & your services/projects & website.  Great free promo all while serving others with helpful information.
  • Seek out local talk radio shows, even internet talk shows that are in your industry.  Contact them about being a guest if not a weekly, monthly provider of content, reviews, etc.
  • Offer local groups (in your industry) to present/share at their upcoming meeting/gathering
  • Create a blog that offers real insight, reviews, interviews, anything of service/interest to folks in your market or area of expertise (try Blogger)
  • Promote your events through places like: Gold State Events, Craigs List, Meetup, Evite, etc.
